I am trying to figure the Wallis and Gwenap connections.
Honor Gewnap was chr. 8 Oct 1725 at St. Buryan to John and Mary Gwenap
Mary Wallis was chr. 30 Jul 1725 at St. Buryan to John and Constance Wallis
Elizabeth Wallis was chr. 6 Jan 1711 at St. Buryan to John Wallis
The one residual legatee, John Wallis, was chr. 9 Dec 1721 at St. Buryan to John and Constance Wallis.
The second residual legatee, Thomas Gwenap, was chr. 5 Jan 1723 at St. Buryan to John and Mary Gwenap.
John Wallis m. Constance Williams 31 Dec 1709 at St. Buryan.
John Gwenop "of Burian" m. Mary Chinhalls 1 Jul 1721 at St. Just.
Besides the 3 children named in the will, John Wallis had a son John and a son Robert who died in infancy.
John Gwenap does not appear to have had any other chldren.
John Wallis 'of Bossnketh" was bur. 19 Sep 1766 at St. Buryan. He left a will which is partially described in A2A, that mentions a wife, son John, and other children. (I suspect the will is more specific, but A2A did not go into further detail).
There is no burial recorded for John's wife Constance, leaving me to wonder if she died in the late 1720s, and John remarried to an Allice, the witness on the will. It would appear that the Mary Gwenap who witnessed the will is the wife of John Gwenap, who may already be deceased (that would explain why a THOMAS Gwenap is one of the overseers, not John, perhaps an uncle of the two Gwenap children)
Presumedly, the Honor Wallis listed in the will is a daughter of John and Constance, and would be the youngest of the family (as Honor Gwenap, Mary Wallis and Elizabeth Wallis are bequeathed to in reverse order of age - it seems as if the testator wanted to provide for these four beginning with the youngest getting the most valuable piece etc, so using this as a guide, then Honor Wallis is probably a bit younger than Honor Gwenap, which is why the children are 'intermixed'.
Getting hold of John Wallis' will would maybe straighten out things a bit better, but it is going to be some time before I can get to the FHC and get a film ordered.
Any thoughts on any of these persons?
