Hi Sarch and all Wallis(h) researchers, I am now inclined to go with your first assumption for the 1st wife of John being Mary having found this reference on A2A:
These documents are held at Cornwall Record Office
Contents: Lease for lives of Mary and Johan Wallish and Edw. Edwards; rent 20/- Consideration: £14 (1) Roger Polkinghorne of Penzance, gent., to (2) Thos. Wallish of St. Just in Penwith, tinner Messuages and land called Bosancotha alias Bosanqueth, St. Buryan
On looking back at his will there is no mention of the name of his first wife, and Joan (youngest child) bap. 1734 at Buryan is (IGI) d/o John & Mary.
The family of John & Constance is fairly easy to follow - his son John married Margaret Williams - their descendants held on to the "H" whereas the Bosanketh lot mostly dropped it later.
I am fairly convinced that the Thomas mentioned was John's father, and that he was the one at St Just whose will mentioned his brother John of St Buryan (1685 - 1772 Crella) - who would be the one who m Constance. What do you think folks?

Is this the Will of Thomas Wallish written 11th September 1714 and proved 22nd March 1714??? I only have the bare details from the Will recorded at the moment so looks like I have some catching up to do!

Yes that's the one. An alternative I have seen is that John's parents were Nicholas Wallis & Elizabeth Woolcock - which would explain the bequests in the Woolcock will quoted at the beginning of this thread. One day I'll get this lot sorted!
