Hi Ct & Kirill,
Some more Truveller's.
Came across a very poor copy of a St Petersburg address list (adres-Kalendar) with the following. The forenames are abbreviated and there is a much guesswork and my interpretations for the full names are in brackets. Only Orian(ienbaum) is recognisable as an address. I think the date is 1913.
Truveller -
Eug(enia) Ale(xdrovna)
Ee Vla(dimirevna)
Ek (or Ee) Nic(olaievna) Orianienbaum 5
Mar(tha or Maria) Rob(ertevna)
Nic(olai) Rob(ertovich) Orianienbaum 5
Apart from Ek(...) and Nic(...) they have separate addresses even though I cannot read them - the blurring and some letters are
different. Hopefully the two Rob(...) will turn out to be the children of Robert Snow T.
1913 is the year my wife's g-greataunt spent some time travelling in Germany taking in the baths and the art galleries around and in Berlin for the good of her health and education. There is no mention in her letters of anything untoward and of the conflicts happening further east. She sailed in the sun on the Elbe and had a "jolly good time". She was back in NZ when WW1 started.
Here, we have just got rid of those storms that pestered you last week, no flooding here though and the rain was welcomed by the grass and sheep. Daytime temperatures went from 34 to 17 in a few hours and are still around the latter - winter in mid-summer! Makes one want to take up genealogy full-time. Then the quakes started again, over 4500 now! Even slept through one of the bigger ones at 2 am the other other night.
Cheers
