Could you please supply me with details of the 1866 marriage of Arthur and Jane if you have anything besides the Index information.

That's OK - I thought that was probably the case but had to check. As you know I am still not convinced that the Arthur Berryman who married Jane Richards was the brother of the Thomas we have been discussing. I have just checked the Marriage index and found that to which you refer. BUT I have another candidate for the Arthur who married Jane Richards. Arthur bn. c. 1843 (1851 Census for Zennor) s/o William and Jane (nee MICHELL) Berryman I have added Arthur and Jane with son Arthur as a separate entry in my database for the time being. It might be worth my while checking some other 'Berryman Haunts' such as St Buryan to see if I might find any further information. (Arthur was also a name often used in the Berryman family of that Parish.) There seems to be much more to this than meets the eye.

Ok...So considering this, would these two--the Arthur Berryman you mention and Jane also have a daughter named Annie born the same time as Jane who married 1)unknown Berryman and 2) Thomas Berryman? If a descendant would step up at this point it would be oh so helpful!

Healthy discussion Calswimmer. The Arthur Berryman I mention seems to disappear also. Have done a check of the available records I have and young Arthur of 1867 is the only child I can find for that particular family. Cannot find a burial for an Arthur Berr()man that might fit either of these blokes so need to look at something else. Just occurred to me that I may have access to some Emigration Records. PLEASE REMIND ME ABOUT THIS and I will try to check it out. Next option is to check with our Administrator about records of Berrymans etc. enetering the US. Please contact me via PM if you are unsure about any of this.

Hello, Cornish Terrier: I looked at the Richards in Zennor postings with interest and am getting confused , which is pretty normal in this hobby. I think you are saying that Nanny Berryman (or Nancy), who married William Richards, is the sister of Arthur and Thomas. If I look at everyone's birthdates I get something like roughly 1810 for Nanny and 1837 for Thomas and for Nanny's mother I get about 1803 (she is 78 in 1881) (which means she can't be Nanny's mother). Am I mixing too many generations?

I am about all done in at the moment. Briefly - Nancy Berryman was, I believe, the sister of Arthur who married Ann Mann and would, therefore, be the aunt of the Arthur and Thomas that formed your initial line of interest. Will try to add more tomorrow if I get the chance but I must now retire and try to get some sleep.

OMG - where did Joseph go? I see Berrimans everywhere... Anyway, I have a nice treat for you - Monday I heard back from the RAOGK person (apparently one or the other of our earlier emails went astray), and she obtained the obits for Margaret and Matthew Trewhella. (Note that she identifies the former as the wife of 'James' - apparently the paper had "Jos" and she read it as "Jas" or else the paper itself made a typo. Mrs. James [Jas. as typed] Trewella, who has been undergoing treatment at the Mercy Hospital, died on Thursday last. The funeral took place at Marshfield on Saturday, and services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Coos Bay News, Marshfield, Coos Co., OR - 3 Sep 1907----------------- Mathew Trewalla
Ritualistic services by B.P.O.E. 1160 will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday in the chapel of the Mills (Hills) Mortuary for Mathew Trewella, 64, late resident of Coos Bay, who died Sunday in McAuley hospital. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
Coos Bay News, Coos Bay, Coos Co., OR - 13 Dec 1958
She also added the following: I also looked in my 1926-27 city directory, and found Trewalla, Matt, serviceman, Coos Bay Battery & Service Station. He must have lived out of town as no home address is listed. In the 1940 directory, it shows Trewalla, Matthew, fireman, City Fire Department, residence City Hall. She suggested too that I contact the Sunset Memorial Park to see if I can get further info, and I intend to do so shortly.

Thank you dear Cousin and please pass on my thanks to your source for this information. About to retire for a few hours but will look more at this when I get back on line tonight. As for the 'Berryman' side seemingly taking over - have not yet had a chance to think properly and decide where to migrate the discussion.

One Arthur Berryman arrived in S.F. in 1874. Not sure if this is the same one, but I found a bio for one who travelled a lot. He was born in 1834 in Cornwall. His father died in 1857, and his mother died 1844. He went to Maryland, PA, CA, and South America, and Canada, and finally settled in Santa Clara, CA.

Calswimmer - you are another little gem. The more information the better - so if you have anything further to flesh this out it would be much appreciated and I am sure will help get to the bottom of this little problem. I will be trying to do more on this tonight (as well as a few other things on the Board) and I look forward to anything more you may be able to offer. A brief look through my Arthur Berryman information suggests it would be most beneficial if you could send any additional details on this as it is possible I 'may' be missing an Arthur somewhere. Looking forward to your next.

He was born in January of 1843. In 1854 He went to Sykesville, MD, the next year to Minersville, Schulkill Cty, PA. 1855 he went to Amador Cty., CA. Then he went to Chile, Bolivia, Peru. In 1864-65 he was back in CA, then went to B.C., then back to CA. He married a woman who was born in Mexico. Her name was Canuta Hedega. He ran an inn and sold real estate. Let me know if this ties in with any lost Arthurs.

I am now more confused. Calswimmer - can you please confirm the year of birth for this Arthur Berryman. In one note you say he was born in Cornwall in 1834. But in your latest you say he was born in January of 1843. If he was born in 1843 then he was probably with his parents when he went to America in 1854. This would mean his father may have died in America in 1857 yet you say his mother had died in 1844. If there is any further information you can supply regarding your latest it would be most appreciated as, at the moment, I am having no luck in tracking down this man. Please confirm all dates as a starting point and let us progress from there. And we need to think seriously about moving this conversation to a more relevant section of the Board.
