I need a look up for James Henry Michell and Elizabeth Jane Sarah.Married 5 Mar 1857. I can't seem to find them in the 1861 census and I was wondering if there are any burial records or records of them having children? THANKS xo

Jo - no sign of any children baptised at Ludgvan prior to the 1861 Census for James Henry and Elizabeth.
Have you tried the Wales Census?
Also - Eliza Jane Michell who was born at Penzance about 1844 as you found in the 1851 Census.
I have just found what I believe to be her in 1861.
She is still living at Dock Lane, Quay Street, Penzance but this time is with Margaret CARBIS, unmarried, age 47, also born Penzance.
Eliza is recorded as a 'cousin' to Margaret Carbis.
They are living next door to William F Curnow and his family. This family was also next door in the 1851 Census.
After that I draw a blank on all counts at the moment.

In the 1851 census for Edward and Mary Michell; they have their grandson William (b abt 1842, Ludgvan) with them I wonder if it's William Chelew's son - William Henry???

Unless Edward and/or Samuel married and had kids before then I think that might be the answer.
Willl need to do some checking first to make sure though I think.

Just letting you know that thanks to this board we have found descendants of James Henry Mitchell and Elizabeth Jane Sarah They too came to Ballarat, Australia. Then James Henry followed some of his children to New Zealand. So only William Chellew, Edward and Samuel left to find. ;D

Holy Cow Batman. ;D We have found William Chelew Mitchell!! Sadly he passed way in 1856 in Ballarat, Victoria, due to a mining accident. Leaving behind his wife Jane and two children. So all those pieces are confirmed.. Just need to keep digging now for Edward and Samuel. Probably also went to Australia. Cheers Jo

Hello Jo - moving along quite nicely still from the looks of things. But it would appear there is still no sign of Edward or Samuel? CT

Hi there. Only just stumbled on this site / thread, but I suspect that I am a descendant of William Henry Mitchell (above). Was anyone able to confirm the surname of his mother?
I have William Henry Mitchell's marriage to Johanna McGrath in (Ballarat) 1865. His father is listed as William Mitchell and the mother Jane, but I have never been able to make out the surname... looks like 'Shearles', but the 'Sh' may in fact be a 'H' which would explain why I hit a dead end and lost interest in the search. I would never have read it to read 'Hurls', but then again I am a bit of a novice at this.
William and Johanna had 8 children, Mary, Thomas, William, George (my Great Grandfather), Annie, Edward, Francis and Charles.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
