1773 - William bap 7th March St. Hilarys
1775 - Hannah bap 15th Oct. St Hilarys
1777 - Elizabeth bap 10 Nov St. Hilarys
1780 MARY 27th Aug St. Hilarys
1783 - Nancy 26th December 1783 Residence Marazion
also a jennifer 1781 & other children after which could be allocated to John & Jane???
Father of John Richards a William Richards and Elizabeth, their marriage 26th Jan 1739 he from Breage Elizabeth from St Hilary...

thanks Lannanta...would you believe i just found that paragraph on the net and came on to tell you...i noted the (w. of William Glasson) and thought at the time it may have meant widow of ...but yes wife also...noted edward and davie giddy jps'.....ummm silly i know but why would jp's and the Marazion council be informed of this?...would it be for Richard Wills to make payment for the son?...... cheers Joanne
I shall look up filiation order.....well now to try and discover where William Glasson went??? if Mary remarried?...if perhaps her and the children MARY GLASSON future mrs Moyle, and Richard perhaps lived with MARY GLASSON NEE RICHARDS parents....hmmm.....a lot of bricks..lol.... cheers Joanne

As an addition to this post of some time ago I would venture to suggest that William Glasson went to St Gluvias and in 1806 married Grace Hancock there - his address being recorded as St Hilary. When William, wife of Grace, died in 1843 at Budock he was said to be aged 69 years suggesting he was born about 1774 - which matches reasonably closely to William, son of Stephen and Alice of St Hilary.

As to his wife I have no idea.

I found a very interesting newspaper article recently which will interest you greatly I think.

Royal Cornwall Gazette - Saturday 19 June 1802

MARAZION, On the 30th ult., a married woman of Marazion, called Mary Glasson (whose husband has been some years absent on military service) was safely delivered of a living male child.

It is universally believed that no midwifery assistance, or even cloaths, were provided for the birth of this sweet infant. A compassionate neighbour, as soon possible, sent necessaries to cover it. The husband arrived home a few days before her delivery. Who can describe his feelings on this trying occasion? to prevent his being obliged to maintain this child, his wife has absolutely sworn before the Rev. Edward Giddy (one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace) that the father is a man called Richard Wills, a cordwainer, in the said town of Marazion.

A respectable young Gentleman (amongst others) had been censured on this atrocious occasion, did, a free and Voluntary affidavit taken before a proper Magistrate, and previous to the mother's oath, clear himself of this adulterous business, said to be carried under the firm of Wheal Crispin.

So, without having a copy of the Filiation Order to read, I am guessing the December date referred to earlier in this thread will be the date of the Filiation Order and not the birth date (now known to be 30th May 1802) as perhaps some of us were surmising.

In addition, I would also say that in an earlier post in this thread I suggested that the above illegitimate Richard Glasson of 1802 went on to marry Margery Smith at Camborne in 1826.  I have long since changed my mind on that belief and now believe that the Richard Glasson who married Margery Smith in 1826 was the son of Richard Glasson and Margaret ROWE, baptised in 1805 at Camborne.
