Hello,
Well, not sure whether to choose reply to , use poll , or new thread as a means of introduction.
I do know I need to use the Surname Interest to record my families.
Bet I put those in the wrong place too!
So forgive my clumsiness and errors, its merely due to ignorance. Something I'm sure that will not last too long given the level of kindness , assistance and guidance that appears on this new found site.
Now, what was I going to do on this page?
Oh yes, My dad, Charlie MILLS was a St Ives Boy but the ancestral home is St Erth on his mother's side. I am English but do come from the west country however. Now reside in the lovely county of Sussex ( East I hasten to add- more like Cornwall than West Sussex)
Have been researching my families for many years but have a had a bit of a break and now its time to return to the quest.
Decided to incorporate my Cornish villages in my user name. Well, though it a good idea at the time
Am really hoping for some specialised help for my several brickwalls.
Have experienced the compounded errors bit- been through the lazy phase with lack of personal scrutinising of information gained thereby getting to the formerly mentioned situation, wasted money paying out for certificates being chosen unwisely in haste and been through the being 'cock-sure' phase. Am now grown up enough to admit that showing a bit of humility is a good thing. And boy, do I ever appreciate the people who spent hours and hours in local offices transcribing endless lists and records and still continue so generously of their time to this day,for the benefit of later generations such as mine. Worth their weight in gold.
Soap box finished!
