From the Trewman's Exeter Flying Post or Plymouth and Cornish Advertiser (Exeter), Thursday, June 20, 1816
Married on Saturday se'nninght*, at Madron Cornwall, WILLIAM GRENFELL to JANE WERRAN. As both the bride and bridegroom are deaf and dumb, the mother of the former and the father of the latter made the responses. It seems they are both tailors, and having worked together for several years, a mutual affection was produced, which being observed and sanctioned by their friends, they arrange for their being joined in the holy bands of wedlock. Their union was witnessed by a great number of persons, attracted by the novelty of the scene.
*Se'nnight......... From Old English Seofon nihta seven nights
