I think I may have solved the mystery of Edward QUICK of Paul.
The Paul OPRs record the marriage of Edward QUICK to Elizabeth WILLIS at Paul 7th July 1816 yet to my knowledge no children can be found of this marriage and no further record of Edward and Elizabeth.
Interestingly - we do have children appearing from 1817 at Paul who were baptised as children on Edward and Margaet QUICK.
Amongst these is John Willis QUICK in 1823.
ON the assumption that Elizabeth WILLIS was bp. at Paul I did a search and found the last one recorded prior to 1812 was baptised in 1775 which is just a tad early to have been the mother of Edward's children anyway.
So - armed with one of those 'dangerous' thoughts of mine ;D I decided to see what we had in the way of Margaret WILLIS baptisms.
Margaret d/o John and Elizabeth WILLIS bp. 31 March 1789 at Paul
This equates very well with Margaret QUICK or Mousehole buried 6th February 1855 at Paul - age 67 of Mousehole.
I think one of two things has happened:-
1. the transcriber has written Elizabeth instead of Margaret when copying the marriage. (I have my doubts about this.)
2. the name was written as Elizabeth instead of Margaret when the marriage occurred. (Much more likely I think and consistent with the bride's mother being Elizabeth.)
And there appears to be no record of a marriage for an Edward QUICK to a Margaret (anybody)!
FURTHER - Edward is recorded in 1851 and 1861 as having been born at St Ives.
His age in the Census and also at death relates to a birth about 1791.
That means that he must certainly be the following:-
Edward s/o James and Ann QUICK bp. 15th November 1793 at St Ives.
This would be James and Ann (nee TONKYN) who married 2nd January 1780 at St Ives.
James also being (in my opinion) the grandson of James QUICK of BORALLAN.
This is part of the discussion regarding the marriage of a James to Susannah LEE at Maker.
