Hi, I have now reached over 1000 names on my tree. Not all ancestors but people connected in one way or another, not all Cornish but from all over the British Isles, Cornwall, England, Scotland, Ireland and a couple from Wales. A few months ago I had only a measely 50 names or so, thanks to all the helps, tips and tricks I have learned from people here I now have a huge tree. Special thanks to Roy, Ian, Heather, Londoner and Newlyn and Rebecca especially but also to all the others who have offered help. I hope the few bits I have been able to offer have been of help to. Meur ras why!

Good going Malcolm! Depending on how 'crazy' or 'addicted' you are/become will determine what happens next : - whether you just follow your main lines of ancestry back, or - whether (like CT, myself and others) you try to delve down every indirect related line to find every possible relative. If you are addicted enough to follow the latter path, you will undoubtedly find many thousands more in the future. ;D

Hi Malcolm, Good going. I would certainly advise picking out anyone of an uncommon name. Particularly in West Penwith. Sooner or later you will probably find a link. For example the Grenfells/Grenfields, Oats/Oates/Otts all seem to end up related to each other. Also look for many variants of spelling. To date I have about 20 spellings of Remphrey and this will apply to other names. Wills will also prove to be a great help in linking people that were previously not visibly related. These were left by relatively poor people to ensure the passage of any assets, no matter how small, to the next generation (mainly male). Good hunting, Roy

Hi, Thanks.... I must admit I think I am more of the latter than the former. I started off with a few hunches and for years had no more than the people who were in the living memory of my family. Not being resident in the areas where they came from I had little luck until I stumbled across the Vingoe website. Then via the Vingoe website some American cousins contacted me and then the snowball effect was I ended up here on the Penwith site, accidentally if you like, or perhaps, I like to think so anyway, someone of my ancestors shoved me in the right direction!!! Seek and ye shall find. Anyway, my girlfriend said to me the other day that if I go on the way I have been going I may as well have one giant tree for hald of Cornwall!!!
