While I was filing the recent discoveries of the various Robert Quicks, their wives Elizabeth etc I came across the following marriage from Lelant.
30th April 1844 Robert Quick, widower, full age, of St Ives, father James Quick a joiner Martha Pearce, servant of Uny Lelant, father James Pearce a miner
I was surprised that I did not have a record of Robert and Martha in my 1851 census data until I looked and found them at Wolverhampton, and then later in 1861 back in St Ives. Both these census suggest that Robert was born 1799/1800.
Now in 1841 there is a Robert, joiner, living at Tregenna Place, aged 40, with a wife Mary. If this is Robert, husband of Martha, then his first wife Mary may well be Mary Landow, marriage at St Ives in 1824. I do not have another record for a marriage for Robert that would fit.
So he must be the Robert who was baptised at St Ives on the 21st July 1799, son of James.
But, who is James? I know CT, here we go again ;D

Right on all counts - s/o James bp. 1799, married first to Mary LANDOW (believe the name is acually SANDOW) and married secondly to Martha PEARCE. Two daughters - Martha Pearce QUICK abt 1844 at St Ives married David RUSSELL at St Ives 28th December 1862. Second daughter Mary ane born about 1847 at Manchester. We have actually discussed this family before. Mary SANDOW was bp. 10th October 182 at St Ies and died 28th September 1843 at St Ives age 41. (From WestBritonOnline). She was the daughter of WillaiM SANDOW and Candace (nee TUBB). Roberts siblings, as far as we can tell, were Jane bp. 1790, James bp. 1796, Paul (another joiner) bp. 1802 and John bp. 1805 - all at St Ives. Parents were James QUICK (joiner) and Jane (unknown) Remember we tried all over the place a month or so back to find a marriage for them??. I am uite happy to have another 'crack' at this lot and see if we can track them down. Robert's brother Paul married Hannah RICHARDS at St Ives 24th July 1826 - witness was James QUICK. The family seems to just disappear - just like it appeared! One thing that is a little confusing is the fact that the names are all West Penwith Quick names - Robert, Paul, James. Although there was at least one Paul up around St Agnes so there may well be others. That's about all I know at the moment ......
