Can't you find any easy ones for me to deal with.
;D
I currently have Richard and Ann 'unattached' as I have never had enough information to work with.
Son Richard was baptised at Ludgvan 17th July 1825.
James was baptised at Ludgvan 7th August 1836.
Both recorded as sons of Richard and Ann however IGI records James' mother as Jane.
From what I had previously been able to ascertain Richard was deceased prior to the 1851 Census and there was no way for me to tell what became of his son of that name.
Details of that headstone would be very much appreciated.
In fact, details of any headstones you recorded would be helpful if, and when, you are able.
Another thing I did not know was the name of Richard's wife so would appreciate some details there.
If Ann was indeed Ann TROON and was born Ludgvan about 1797 then she would have been the daughter of James and Jennifer (nee LENTON) given she was the only Ann TROON bp. at Ludgvan.
On what you have outlined I would agree that Richard was probably the son of Richard and Thomasin (nee MUNDY) and was baptised in 1801 at Ludgvan.
But Richard senior is another I have left 'unattached' because of insufficient information.
When he married Thomasin MUNDY in 1798 he was 'of Lelant' - that is probably the main reason for his current 'situation' in my database.
I will take another look at Richard and Ann soon.
IGI shows only three baptisms for Thomasin MUNDY (variants) and the most likely would be:-
bp. 6th September 1772 at St Hilary d/o Robert and Joan
This is almost certainly her given that Richard and Thomasin named a son Robert Monday QUICK in 1803.
Perhaps interesting that a Joan MUNDAY of Towednack married Richard TREVORROW at St Ives in 1727.
We need now to find out, if possible, approximately when Richard would have been born as I have three possible candidates.
1. bp. 28th December 1751 Ludgvan s/o Richard and Elizabeth (nee ROW)
2. bp. 20th September 1772 St Ives s/o Richard and Honour (nee JENKYN)
3. bp. 24th June 1776 Ludgvan s/o Richard and Honour (nee JACKA)
If we were to 'stick to the rules'
and go by the names of their children I would be inclined to say he was the son of Richard and Elizabeth and, so, baptised in 1751.
With only four children this must be considered a possibility.
I will leave that one alone for the moment.
Back to Richard and Ann.
I currently have their son James as:-
25 May 1873 by Banns
James Quick 37 Miner of Gulval (Father: Richard Quick, Miner)
Grace Jenkin 40 of Gulval (Father: William Jenkin, Smelter)
Witnesses: Christopher Jenkin, Thomas Jenkin
Now if this is correct then James is NOT the man at Crowlas in 1897 as the 1881 Census shows Grace as a widow.
James must have died shortly before the 1881 Census as FreeBMD shows a death for James, age 44, in the March Qtr of 1881.
The only deaths recorded in FreeBMD for James QUICK in the Penzance District in the 1890's are:-
September 1887 age 68
June 1890 age 62
March 1894 age 10
December 1895 age 1 (James Lyttleton Q)
The next one is in 1908.
I cannot find Grace in 1891 and cannot find a death for her so perhaps she remarried.
Will have a hunt around and see what more I can find.
