I have a William Davye of Sancreed who is married to Penelopie. The only Penelopie I can find born at Sancreed is Penelopie Buskarne (1628) born to Trestren Buskarne and Emblinge XXXX.
This family seems to appear out of nowhere and disappear just as fast. The surname Buskarne does not appear in the Phillimores nor do I find it on OPC. Does anyone know anything about this family? Perhaps they were of Boscarne and so this was not really a surname at all?

It could actually be BOSCAWEN which would sound very similar.
From 'A Handbook of Cornish Surnames'
BOSCAWEN - From bos scawen: dwelling of the elder tree. Recorded in Helston 1237. Place name Boscawen in St Buryan and Mawgan-in-Meneage Parishes.
BOSCAWEN - Alternative derivation: from bos-Gawen abode of Gawen (personal name).

There are 1342 entries in IGI for BOSCAWEN The bulk of these seem to be for St Michael Penkivel and also 'Tregothnan' which I think may have been an ancient manor. The dates go back into the 1300's and I noticed a couple of complete dates of death from the 1500's (e.g. 24 Aug 1513) so a lot of those entries would appear to have come from the likes of Estate Papers etc. With only two entries for BUSKARNE and the similarity in pronunciation it would not surprise if there was a connection there somewhere.
