Have you tried Bill Curnow (OPC Ludgvan) who has done a huge amount of work on the Curnows of Penwith generally.

Bill Curnow is the main researcher that I know of for this (or any) Curnow family.
However, here is my understanding of this particular line:-
James Curnow was baptised at Gulval 12th November 1781 s/o John Curnow and Ann (Donithorne).
He married Jane Collins at Gulval 6th July 1805.
John Curnow (James' father) was buried at Gulval 15th May 1808 according to Bill Curnow. John and Ann married at Gulval 18th January 1772.
John Curnow was baptised at Gulval 23rd April 1739 (OS) s/o John Curnow and Mary (Cowles) who married at Gulval 3rd October 1724.
Although I have no baptism for this John I can proceed a little further back after long discussions with Bill Curnow many years ago.
It appears probable that John was the son of Stephen Curnow and Susanna (Nicholls) who married at Gulval 6th November 1680.
Stephen (according to Bill) was buried at Illogan 17th March 1715.
From discussions with Bill it appears that Stephen was most likely a son of John Curnow and Johanna (Vibert) who married at Gulval 9th February 1638.
This John, in turn, was one of two surviving sons of that name of Thomas and Catherine Curnow of Towednack.
Thomas left a Will in 1643 naming, amongst other children, sons John 'the elder' and John 'the younger'.
Thomas Curnow appears to have originally been from the Lizard Peninsula.
Best I can do for now but hope it helps.

Hi Greg, Glad to hear you have been in contact with Bill Curnow and I also hope to get back in touch with him very soon.
Although I have a number of Curnow connections I think the first may have been via Jane Curnow who married William Baragwanath at Towednack in 1696. (She was the daughter of Robert Curnow and Catherine (nee Painter)).
Their daughter Catherine married Martin Trewhella at Towednack in 1724.
I need to get back onto this line but there will be delays whilst I catch up on missed messages and also because of the current Fire Season here which could turn very nasty at any time.
Keep posting and I will do my best to help.
