As I said in my introduction, my main area of interest is in the Glasson family, particularly in Lelant, Ludgvan and Madron, but really I spend a lot of time just putting the various families together. My source of frustration at the moment is the QUICK family from Zennor, Towednack and I guess St Ives.
Kind regards
Allen

;D ;D ;D Join the clan Allen. However, I have done quite a bit of work on that particular area of Quicks in the past and, although not completely happy, believe I have a 'fair amount' of it sorted out to a 'reasonable degree'. Please post details of what you have OR your particular problem and I will certainly do my best to help. If you prefer (initially) you can send me a PM and I will try and work on a few things from there. I do know that I have a few 'questionable' connections in my database but most are as accurate as I have been able to deduce to date based on the information I have had available. Dependent on time-frame, I have copies or abstracts of Wills that have been of assistance. Please decide the most comfortable way for you to approach this and let me know and I will work from there. Ian

Hi again Ian
I would like to carry on and put the family together and each time I am unsure where the connection is I will ask if that is okay? What is a PM?
Knd regards

PM is a 'personal message'. If you click on a person's name here, it will take you to their profile. The top right hand choice is 'send personal message'. If you receive messages, you will know, because when you log in it will say at the top of the board: "Hey lananta you have ___ messages, ___ are new" and you just click on the word 'messages' to go read them.

My main interest is the Glassons also. Although originally concentrating on the Glassons of Crowan/Falmouth I have now become interested in the wider family and the connections between them. I'm a bit of a amateur so I'm just trying to negotiate my way through the pitfalls and mistakes that can easily occur.

Thank you so much, Ian. I wish I could return the favour but certainly very happy to pass on any limited information I may have to anyone interested. My other interests are the Pools of Crowan and the Glassons of Breage.
I am also fascinated by family legends of any possible smuggling connections - oft hinted at but, of course, hardly the occupation entered on a census!!
Best wishes, Carole

Hi Carole - you are most welcome. I have a number of books on Cornwall and it is possible there maybe some information on smuggling in them. Unfortunately, having recently moved house, these books are still in boxes awaiting somewhere to display them. I will almost certainly be offline again soon for a while but please keep posting and, as soon as I can, I will try to look further into this for you. Ian

Have to find new shelves and also somewhere to put them before I can put the books on them. Other frustrations are not helping matters but I am sure I will get there.

Hello all,
I am descended from an Elleanor Glasson, christened 26 December 1824 in East Newlyn, daughter of William Glasson and Ann. A likely marriage for William and Ann is: William Glasson m. Ann Rowe 11 April 1822, Cubert.
Their other children were William Henry, chr. 25 Nov 1822 Elizabeth 1829 Jane 1839 Fanny 1835 Richard 1834 Mary Ann 1828 Lystra 1832
Elleanor married an Abraham Parkyn/Perkin/Parkin on 30 April 1853 in Newyln, and one of their daughters Jane Ann emigrated to Australia in 1876.
Hoping to make contact with anyone that fits into this family!
Cheers, Mike.

G'day Mike - will try and look into this as soon as I can but have my hands full with another query just now.
I have never dealt with the Glasson family that far East in Cornwall but am sure I will be able to find a way to help you.
BTW - do you know just where in Australia they came to as I have some records here that may be of help in gathering more information.

Hi Ian,
thanks for the fast response and the offer of help!
I should have explained that I'm pretty much ok with Jane Ann Perkin (daugher of Elleanor Glasson) onwards. Jane Ann married Richard Smith in Penponds on 1st August 1871, and they emigrated out to Adelaide, Australia on the "Forfarshire" on 10th June 1876.
Back to the Glassons, I have Elleanor Glasson chr. 26 Dec 1824 in Newlyn East. She married Abraham Parkyn/Perkin on 30 April 1853, and I've followed them through on the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses (Elleanor is possibly on the 1891 as well, but I can't really be sure it's the right one). I'm looking to flesh out Elleanor early life, and just this past weekend found all those siblings of her listed in the IGI.
Thanks again, Mike.

Mike - would this be the Ellenor Glasson, aged 26 and born at St Columb Miner, who was a servant at Trescowthick, Newlyn in 1851 to Andrew and Sophia Carveth.
