Hello Everyone!!!
My name is Malcolm Davies, I was born in South Africa but am now in the UK. My family were all Cornish until World War II when my father had to be born in Plymouth because of the bombing (apparantly). Anyway I have been doing a lot of research into the Davey/Davis/Davies family of the Mount's Bay area and also the Vingoe family as my Great-Great Grandfather was John Sampson Davies who married Annie Vingoe. This is where the South African connection first starts. John S Davies was a smith who made his fortune during the gold rush by producing the tools that the prospectors needed! In Doornfontein, Johannesburg there is still a Davies St to this day. Anyway, just to say hello! Malcolm

Welcome Malcolm. :)I too have distant links to the Vingoe line. There are plenty of people here with lots of helpful info. Often useful if you have a specific query.

A big welcome Malcolm. It seems like we are cousins of some sort. I have a lot of information on various branches of the Davis/Davies family if you would like me to send it to you. I'm afraid I've been busy this week with Heylfest, but hopefully things will quieten down shortly and I can get back to sorting my ever growing pile of Davis paperwork . Looking forward to the forthcoming discussions
