Tracing roots that include what was, I believe, my ancestors' home: Reskadinnick, now a small village, although the big house is still there.

Hello and welcome to the board. So many hear are so helpful and informative that I am sure your research will benefit hugely by being here. Would a Hannah Vivian b 1734 in Camborne to John and Ann be in your line? Hannah married Richard Glasson on 20 Jan 1756. I am researching the Glasson line but have been unable to find any children from this marriage, or indeed much information about them, inlcuding Hannah's death. Can you help in any way? I do have some of the early Parish Records from Camborne so if I can help you too, feel free to ask. Best wishes, Carole

Hi there, and a big welcome . I also have Hannah Vivian baptised on 8 January 1764 to John and Ann, in Camborne. I believe she was buried in Camborne on 29 Jan 1823, aged 60. I have tenuous links with the Vivi/yan family in the Phillack area, but only through distant marriages.

Hi CM - thanks for the additional info. I guess Hannah must have been born around January 1st - and baptised a week later. Quite a normal time lag there. We have some info on the Vivians in the Phillack area - ask if there is any particular line you need info. on and we''l try and help. I hope your info will help CG, too.

Hello and a big sorry for only noticing this post now. After concentrating on the Glassons for some while I came across some interesting info on another branch of the family in Staffordshire and went down that path for a while. Anyway, thanks very much for correcting me on dates. The mystery is why I came to my wrong conclusions...ahh, must have been my young and nieve days when I believed all I read on IGI was correct!! Very many thanks and hope your research is going well. I'd love more John and Ann info when you have time. Very best wishes, Carole

Hello vivian 2008 and welcome to the forum. Have you checked Vivian's Visitations to see if there is anything therein on the Camborne line?

Hi trencom, thanks for the welcome.
Yes, we have seen the visitations and gained some info which, together with a book by Stanley Vivian and the Mary Hughes trilogy have provided some corroboration of our findings as well as some challenges, too!

Hi Vivian2008 and a belated welcome from me also.
I have numerous Vivians in my database but none that I have, as yet, followed through on due to them being mainly in lines not directly connected to my own.
Some I do plan to research further but that is a project for down the track a little.
However, do you have any data on Vivians in the USA?
There is one I have just noticed who is connected very closely to my family.
George VIVIAN bn. 20th May 1862 at Cheshire, New Haven, CT married Jane TREWHELLA about 1885.
The details on George are from IGI/Ancestral file and I have no other personal information on him.
From the US Census I know that George and Jane had a son named Alfred W VIVIAN born October 1886.
Should you have any information on this family it would be most welcome.

Hi there, CT. We have no information on Vivians overseas. We have come up against some that went to other countries but have not followed them up - the main line(s) are time consuming enough!

That's okay my friend - but I will catch up with you at some stage about the 'stay-at-homers' as I would like to tidy up what I do have on the family. But also keep in mind, especially if you have a couple of 'problem children' lurking about, that some work on those that left hom can often solve some other problems. Experience has proved that for me.

Poor terminology I'm afraid.
What I mean is that if you have any members of the Vivian clan you are having trouble connecting, or are not certain of connections, then sometimes some research into others who left for other parts might provide the clues or proof that you need.
