Hi everyone! New to site and just wondered if there are any Georges out there? My family are from Penwith...Burian, St Ives and possibly Sennen. To cut a long story short...had some strange connections whilst in the area...later to find my ancestors lived in Penwith...which sort of explains a lot but desperate for some more info if anyone fancies a chat! I'm stuck in the Midlands, totally land locked at mo! Not where my heart is......

Hi Kez, and a big welcome I'm sure one of us has some Georges in our family somewhere. I've found 3 baptisms in St Ives between 1730 and 1840 if these are any help: Mary George, daughter of William & Mary, baptised 19 March 1830 William George, son of William & Mary, baptised 30 December 1831 Mary Ann George, daughter of William & Sarah, baptised 4 October 1840 A William George married Mary Curnow in St Ives on 5 Dec 1827, so these may well be the parents of the Mary and William mentioned above. A Mary George was buried in St Ives on 22 November 1835, age 44. Have had a look at the census returns for St Ives and William and Sarah George seem to have had quite a brood of children. William (according to the 1851 census) was born in approx 1817 in Lanlivery; Sarah was born c. 1819 in St Ives. Feel free to have a look around and post any specific queries you have.

Hi Kez, There were a lot of Georges at Sennen although I haven't come across any in my line yet - I think the Covers and the Churchtown families didnt intermarry as much as they did within themselves! Any specific people you want to follow up there are plenty of folks here ready to help.

Hello Kez, and welcome from me as well. Somewhere in the past I'm sure I've had contact with a lady in St Just who is into the George's. I'll try and find out who it was for you. I have 3 George family members on the periphery of my tree, but know next to nothing about them. Have you looked at the West Penwith Resources site? You may find useful information through the contacts there. Just post away with queries and someone will be sure to try and help. Happy hunting. Mike
