Hello,
I have family connections in the Penzance/Gulval/ Madron area. Friggens, Hocking, Berryman and Uren. I was born on the Isles of Scilly and educated in Penzance. I now live in Devon.
Looking forward to visiting this site more often,
Cathy

Welcome Cathy Frome someone who joined not that long ago, I can assure you that they are a great lot and the help you will get is fantastic. Berryman I think appears in my lot and I am certain Uren does. There is a special board for Uren but just have a general exploration of the rest of the board. It's amazing what you find!! Tony M

Hi Cathy and Welcome. I am sure, as Tony said, you will find some help here. In fact it is only the last few days I have been thinking of looking at the Berryman family again so there will be fun to be had. Born on the Isles of Scilly eh. You do not say how old you are (and I am not going to ask) but it is 'possible' that we met. I was there in 1994 and again in 1995 and had a great time there. Perhaps you know my cousin Gail Wilkinson who used to be cox of the 'Nournour'. Or my old friend Mark (Monkey) Watts? Seems I have quite a few relatives out there via a distant cousin, William Martin Trewhella, who settled out there back in the late 1800's after having been shipwrecked three times. May discuss some of this with you later. Have fun.

Hi Cathy, and a big welcome from me also I also have Berry(i)man and Uren in my family, so we may well connect somewhere along the way. Although I don't think I have any relations on the Isles of Scilly, I spent a very memorable 18th birthday on St Martins. ;D Looking forward to your posts and queries.

Hello, Cathyc, I appear to have some relatives: "Uren" and, more distant, Berrimam (Berryman). A few examples to throw at you. If they mean anything, there is more detail available.
Grace Uren 1734-1816, married Richard Martins, Towednack/Ludgvan. Seven children.
Ann Berriman1735 , married David Martin(s). He was one of 5 children of Richard and Christian (Leggoe). David/Ann had 4 children.
More distant: a direct descendant of David/Ann is Andrew Martin and Catherine Berryman, at least 3 children. See 1891 Census, Towednack, Green Bank. Andrew is 26, Catherine 25. Child Emma Catherine Martin died Florida 3 Nov.1992.
Also: Andrew N Martin 1864-1904, m.1886 Catherine Berryman 7 Aug.1886, Penzance. Cath. born 1865 Towed., d 1969 St.Ives.
Cath`s father: Job Berryman, married Christian Emma Noall.
Mary Jane Uren 1869-1947, married to Phillip Hosking (Uny Lelant?) daughter Florence May H. 1894-1966, m.J P Martin 1909.
etc.
There are others who have more detail than I have.
David.
