Came across this family whilst hunting down information on the Robert and Catherine problems and thought it worth posting a brief note for future interest. William QUICK m. Celia EDDY 5th August 1816 at Sithney and proceeded to have 10 children. I have pieced the family together from the Sithney and Porthleven PR Transcripts and partly from the Census records but will basically leave it at that for now. Celia was bp. 24th July 1796 at Sithney d/o John and Sarah EDDY and was the youngest of nine children spread over 26 years. But William QUICK is the one of interest. He unfortunately died prior to the 1851 Census so I have nothing to tell me where he was born. He was buried at Porthleven 24th December 1850 at the age of 54. This gives us something and puts his birth at about 1796. A search of IGI produced only one possible candidate:- William s/o MARY QUICK bp. 6th March 1796 at Ludgvan And just found this from the OPC site - Bastardy Bonds for Ludgvan:- Date: October 1st, 1795 Parties Bound and Residence:John GILLIS, Lelant What Sum: 30 Pounds On What Account: Mary QUICK base child or children All I have to do now is to identify Mary Quick. Interesting to note that a John GILLIS married Ann JOHNS at Ludgvan 24th October 1799.
In 1802 a Mary QUICK married John RENODEN but I do not know if this could be the same girl.
The only other marriages for Mary Quick within 10 years of the Bond are at St Ives in 1801, 1802 and 1803 - two to Stevens men and one to a Wearne.
Possible candidates for Mary:-
bp. 5th July 1767 Ludgvan d/o Richard and Honour (Jacka)
The only others seem to be at St Ives or Towednack with a couple further 'up country'.

I would have to agree that on the balance of probabilities, Mary was the mother of William.
The naming of the children sort of fits with the two oldest boys being John and Richard - his father's name and his grandfather's name. James and Elizabeth, while both common, also appear in the immediate family.

I gather from your post that you agree on the possibility that William's mother, Mary, was the daughter of Richard and Honour? If so I will proceed to adjust my database to reflect it. CT
