Have just stumbled across your site, and given a very large Cornish component in my ancestry, thought I should join the group.
Families of interest (with earliest known ancestor) include: Watts: Roger Watts m. 1697 Gwennap to Ann Beard Hollow/Holla: William Holla m. 1685 Zennor to Uslea Cock Eddy: Richard Eddy b. circa 1695 m. Joan Richards Prior/Pryor: Henry Pryor m. 1606 Wendron Florence Uryn Arundell: Arundell family, who were lords of Tolverne (line goes on forever!) Oats: James Oats m. 1790 Madron to Dorothy Nickeles Harris: Richard Harris circa 1765 - after 1841 (had a dau. Thomasine who married George Watts) Millwood/Potter: Christopher Millwood m. 1730 Phillack Grace Potter
And as a result of some reading on this website, I have also just developed an interest in the Banfield and Hampton families. I now believe that the Frances Banfield who married Richard Eddy at Lelant in 1741 is the same person as the Frances Banfield, daughter of Edward Banfield and Wilmot Tyack.
Anyway, thats probably enough to begin the introductions.

Welcome to this Site Gandolf (from Geelong) from Cornish Terrier (in Chiltern). I am sure you will be able to find a 'home' for each of your listed families amongst the sections already set up here but, if not, just ask and we will organise something for you. So, if not already begun, start posting and we will start trying to help you. Your 1790 marriage at Madron between James OATS and Dorothy NICKELES is interesting because of the following:- James OATS, sojourner, m. Dorothy NICHOLLS 12th June 1777 at Towednack Strange coincidence. And your thoughts on Frances Banfield are correct. Of all you have mentioned my main interest is in Zennor, although I am far from limited to that Parish and have connections to or information for much of (in particular) West Cornwall. I would be interested to hear what you have found regarding William HOLLA and Uslea COCK. Look forward to catching up with you throughout the Board. Ian

Hi Cornish Terrier. As you might imagine, with most of these lines, more work is required to sort them out and firm them up. James OATS, sojourner, m. Dorothy NICHOLLS 12th June 1777 at Towednack
I am not aware of this marriage, and am not sure of the significance/relevance at this time. Could be related (previous generation??) but may be nothing more than a co-incidence. The information I currently have on the early Hollow family comes from the one names study being worked on by several descendants. See the site at: freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~chollow/database.html The very earliest dates I have not yet been able to verify through my own resources.

Hi Gandolf and welcome ;D Have just had a quick look at the database. Just thought I'd mention that I am related to Grace Leddra Noall who married James Bryant Holla. Looking forward to your postings.

Hope to get some thoughts/questions up in the next few days or so. At the moment have become completely swamped, between onging correspondence on one of my Aussie lines that I published a book on a few years back, and all the new Cornish data that is pouring out at me in the last few weeks. And of course that perennial interuption to good family research - "work" . My boss seems to think that I should keep turning up.
