It would appear that the Quick family was represented at Breage from about 1730 up until the 1841 census when there were two females only left. Nobody in 1851 and 1861. The first family was John (son of William Quick and Jane CARTER) and his wife Elizabeth AUSTIAN. They had at least six children who in turn produced the next generation before slowly disappearing from the landscape. One of those who I cannot place is Thomas who married Mary RICHARDS at Breage in 1776 and had at least two children Thomas and Ann. If anybody has these two, or any of the others for that matter, I would be interested to compare notes. Allen

Have just spent quite a long time trying to sort out the Breage Quicks (other than information I had already collated) and, to date, I cannot find a place for this Thomas. But I can tell you that William Quick (m. Jane Carter) was buried at Breage 28th April 1734 and that he left a Will of which I have an abstract. (Jane was buried at Breage 5th May 1757) There was an Admon. for son John dated 1751 by George Thomas, his brother-in-law. Depositions of witnesses named the family as 'wife Elizabeth, sons William and John (minors) and daughters Jane, Joanna, Joan and Alice'. I have not found a baptism for John but suspect it may have occurred back at Zennor. If you check IGI you will find a baptism for him at Camborne in 1705. I checked this via the Camborne Online Parish Records and found that this particular John was son of a Thomas Quick. A Thought - The Thomas who married Mary Richards could 'possibly' be the son of William and Jane although it would mean he married at the age of about 58. He was buried at Breage in 1783 so it is a possibility. Well, enough of this for now - food is beckoning.

Good morning Ian
I agree with your posting especially the six children of John and Elizabeth.
It seems unusual to have John baptised in Camborne do you think? I am assuming you mean the baptism for John for 22/11/1707? There were two more baptisms in Camborne for sons of a Thomas - William in 1719 and another John in 1732. Actually - aren't we looking for a son of William and Jane and not a Thomas?
Anyway I will keep looking

Sorry Allen I guess I did not explain correctly. If you look up 'John Quick bn. c. 1705 +/- 5' (an approximate birthdate working from the date of marriage) you will find an IGI entry referring to 'our' John. The name is in small letters which tells us it is probably not confirmed. The entry has John Quick christened ??/ /1705 Camborne married ELIZABETH AUSTIAN 21st October 1732 Breage. But when I checked the Camborne OPR that baptism was for a son of Thomas and nothing to do with our John at all. Just someone clutching at straws again.
