I am looking for the marriage date and place for the marriage of James Dunstan Quick (b. 18 May 1885 Towednack) and Frances Maud Harrison (b. Westbourne Park, June 1885, Paddington Vol. 1a, page 32), between early 1914 and early 1916. James and his brother Andrew Dunstan Quick emigrated to Canada in 1904 and homesteaded in Senlac, Saskatchewan after working for several years in Regina. Their parents were John Glasson Quick and Mary Thomas Dunstan of Canonstown. James returned to Canonstown on 15 Jan 1914 and left there 11 May 1915, sailing from Liverpool on 18 May. I have not found a record of when Frances came to Canada, UK sailing records for 1914 and 1915 that refer to Frances (or F.) Harrison or to Mr. and Mrs Quick are not confirmed by Canadian arrivals records. James met Frances, who lived in London, while she was vacationing on the Cornish Riviera. Their daughter Jean Frances, was born 11 Oct 1916, in Canada. James and Frances may have been married in London or Canada.

PS to the above: A fellow passenger with James and Andrew on their 1904 voyage was William Glasson Semmens, a first cousin.

Cant find it in the England & Wales BMD. Saskatchewan marriage records are not yet online - the will start once they have finished indexing deaths according to the website: vsgs.health.gov.sk.ca/vsgs_srch.aspx

I am afraid that I am also unable to supply the data you want at the moment. Much information I have on this family came from Dr William Andrew Quick who was the son of Andrew Dunstan Quick and Philippa TREWHELLA who married in Montreal in 1921. Unfortunately the best information Bill could give me at the time was on his own direct family. BTW - This means you and I have some sort of family relationship given that Philippa Trewhella is one of my own kin. Are you also aware of an elder sister to Andrew Dunstan and James Dunstan Quick. She was Susan Josephine Quick (bn. 1882) and married a William Newton. That is about all I know at the moment but can certainly go back further on the Trewhella side if you wish. Ian

Ian Ian: I had to chuckle when I read your response. William (Bill) Andrew Quick is my 1st cousin once removed. My paternal grandmother was Susie (not Susan) Josephine Quick, elder sister to Andrew and James Quick. Susie married William Thomas Newton (see Newtons of Canonstown/Lelant thread). As a kid I spent summers at Andrew and Phillipa Quick's farm at Senlac. My Quick data base largely comes from Bill. I have been expanding upon his data where possible, since I have time available. We do not have a marriage date/place for James Dunstan Quick and Frances Maude Harrison, hence the query. Phillipa Trewhella was born 30 Nov 1889 on Brunnion Farm, Uny Lelant. Phillipa and Andrew were married 30 May 1921, at the Mountain Methodist Church, following Phillipa's arrival from Cornwall. I'm currently concentrating on the Dunstan and Newton families for now, with a look at the Quicks time permitting. Tom

A bit of a 'chuckle' now and then does much more harm than good. Thanks Tom for this information and I am sure we will keep in touch over this. You probably know that Philippa Trewhella was the daughter of William Trewhella and Caroline Ann (nee Benney) who were married at Illogan 2nd November 1885. I can continue the history of this line later on but it does connect with my own family line given that Philippa Trewhella is the descendant of 1st Cousins. It is a little complicated as there are numerous 1st Cousin relationships involved both in the family and the area in those days. In this case we are dealing with cousins both bearing the same surname but there are instances where the Quick family becomes involved and there was yet another 1st Cousin marriage involved. (Not necessarily in this direct line - but still related) Eddy, Baragwanath and Lembry are other names which become involved as do the names Cock and Glasson. (These last two are in my direct line.) We have much fun to look forward to. Ian
