HI TO ALL AT FORUM, I'M NEW TO ALL THIS SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME IF I HAVE ENTERED THIS REQUEST IN THE WRONG BIT. STARTED MY FAMILY TREE IN NOV 07 AND QUICKLY ESTABLISHED MY ROOTS IN CORNWALL, BACK TO 1545. MY G G'DAD WAS JAMES HIGGINS( SON OF JOEL KELLY HIGGINS/JANE STEPHENS), FROM SCORRIER, WHO WAS A MINE CAPTAIN FOR WILLIAMS OF SCORRIER. HE MARRIED SARAH JANE LUKE, WHO WAS BORN IN MERRO VELHO, BRAZIL, WHILST HER PARENTS (AMELIA nee KENDAL; RICHARD LUKE) WERE OUT THERE WITH THE De LA RAY MINING CO. AMELIA RETURNED AFTER THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND RICHARD,WITH HER FOUR CHILDREN. AFTER MARRYING MY G G'DAD, THEY WERE SENT TO RUN THE MINES IN AVOCA, CO WICKLOW, IRELAND. THE BLOOD LINE GOES BACK TO ROBERT E HIGGINS C1600, ALL IN CORNWALL,MAINLY IN/NEAR GWENNAP AND THE MINING INDUSTRY. I HAVE A FAMILY TREE ON ANCESTRY.COM AND FOLKS ARE WELCOME TO SHARE THE INFO/PHOTOS THAT I HAVE ON IT. LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU JIM HIGGINS
I am not sure if we have a connection here but our families seem to have many similarities. My Line
John LUKE married Mary SARAH 1838 in Chasewater, Kenwyn They had 6 children (that I have a record of) 1) John LUKE born 1839 Truro and died 1907 Clunes, Vic, Australia. John married Martha FORD 1859 in Redruth. (7 children - last 6 born in Australia) 2) Susan LUKE born 1841 Truro married James BROWN 1866 in Redruth James and Susan had 3 children with the second child born in Brazil. 3) Mary Jane LUKE born 1842 Truro (Last record I have is 1861 census in Gwennap living with her father and step mother) 4) Annie Marie LUKE born 1846 in Truro and died 1913 Clunes Vic Australia Annie married Richard TEMBY in 1872 Ballarat Vic Australia (my line) 5) William LUKE born 1849 (last record of him is 1851 census with parents) 6) Martin LUKE born 1851 Newlyn and died 1852 in St Columb
Mary SARAH died in 1852 St Columb and John then remarried 1853 in Redruth to Jane DUNSTAN
They had a child name Catherine abt 1855 in Gwennap
John died in 1870 in Redruth. I have his marriage certificate to Mary SARAH and it has his father recorded as William LUKE.
