Also are there surviving BTs for the period in question?

Hi, Unfortunately Margaret was born c1661 after both of her Mothers parents had died. So the only child of Nowell and Marie (Mary) mentioned in either will is Jane and she died shortly after (1660). I am not aware of any other "suitable " Robarts/Roberts family in the area to have a Margaret. I don,t know if anyone has come across any Shakerley wills ?. Incidentally I have as possible parents for Nowell/Noel Roberts, John Robarts and Susan Allen, married 4th.aug.1627 at St.Just. If anyone has any thoughts on this. This would also make Margery, bapt.25th.mar 1632 and Sisly, no bapt. found. his siblings. Also Nowell was involved in the seizing of property from John Wallish, a Quaker of Sennen in 1670. No wills found, as yet, for any Roberts family. Sorry, not much help there, but hopefully every shred of information will help in the end. Roy

Can anyone confirm that Margaret was indeed a daughter of Nowell Roberts and Mary Edwards, and if so, do we have an exact christening date for her?
Trencrom, Coming back to your original question, the answer would appear to be that there is no definitive proof re Margaret. However the circumstantial evidence does point to her being the daughter of Nowell Robarts. As with all records in the 17th century they tend to be patchy, and the fact that St Just records have survived often leads us back to that parish. I havent delved into this family in any detail, so maybe now is a good time to collate info on other Robarts families in the area. Absence of any alternatives would be a good indication of parentage.
Has anyone turned up any other wills to confirm Margaret is part of this family?
On the subject of Shakerley wills, none have turned up in the South West for the 17th century.I have several later 18th century ones. On my Shakerley research I think my next point of call may be the Shakerley archives, which from memory are held at Cheshire records office. Although their online listing has not turned up anything relevant
Have a good Christmas, Mike

Merry Xmas to all working on this Thread and, once again, I will have to catch up. Hopefully I will have most stuff here sorted by New Year and will be able to concentrate more on things - given my Internet connection holds up. All the best to all. Ian
