G'day Rob, Confirmed what londoner found regarding George Lugg in 1847 and notice quite a few others buried at St Buryan. Unfortunately I only have records available up until about 1907 so cannot help with your later man at the moment. From your note it seems possible that he may have died and been buried elsewhere. If you can post a little more detail on wife and children it might be of help in tracking him down. Give me what you can and I will help as best I can.

The last time I visited St Buryan I found the family grave in the local cemetery (not the Church yard). There was a family tomb containing the remains of my gr-grandmother Mary Maddern CARNE, son, George (d. 1920) and daughter Annie Edith (d. 1917) I could find no grave for George her husband in that cemetery although their children had died some years later. He may well have died and been buried elsewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Rob - As I could find only one Mary CARNE buried at St Buryan (1858) up until 1907 I am guessing she died some time after that. There is no George CARNE listed from 1813 through 1907. He may have died and been buried elsewhere which seems more likely to indicate he was possibly overseas or his body would have been returned to St Buryan for burial. Perhaps Cornishmaid might be able to have a check of the St Buryan Burials Register next time she visits the CRO. It is also possible that George died at sea, particularly if he was a fisherman. Ian
