Would love some records to confirm data Thanks Sue Hi Sue, My Thomas family have connections with Illogan. William Thomas 1800-1858 married to Thomasin Nicholas 1805-1873. they lived there in the 1851/61 census My Thomas line traces back to 1540, all in Cornwall. We have emigrants to Australia, New Zealand and USA from the mid 1800's. If you feel there is a connection, please do get in touch Regards, Keet

Seems like we are beating around the same bush.
I am stuck on James Thomas m. Frances Bennett about 1840, presumably at Illogan. They are in the 1851 census there, but I lose track of them after that. May have gone to Redruth. Their daughter, Eliza(beth?) Thomas born Nov. 25, 1856 in Redruth, per her 1939 Pennsylvania (US) death cert.
Anyone come across this gang? Docs re birth/parents of Frances Bennett and/or James Thomas, or their marriage? Thanks!

According to FreeBMD James THOMAS and Frances BENNETS were married in the Redruth Registration District in the September Qtr of 1842.
The Parish is not specified and may be Illogan or Redruth but there are a number of other Parishes in that district also. Unfortunately records for those two main Parishes are not readily available for that period so you may have to try and track down someone who might be able to visit the Cornwall Record Office or perhaps the Cornish Studies Library at Redruth..

In the 1861 census James and Frances Thomas are living at Pengover Green, Menheniot with their 5 daughters and 3 sons. James being a Lead Miner.

Thank you lamorna and CT, this is very helpful. I'd never heard of Menheniot, seems quite a trek from Redruth, oh well go where the jobs are.
