Hi,My name is Erika. I am a newbie to your site, and searching for the parents of John Trewhella who lived in Towednack, born Abt 1800 and married Nancy Ann Jelbart in abt 1829.Family trees I've come across have three different couples listed as parents, and I'm struggling to decipher which couple it actually is.My husbands family links back to Joseph Glasson and Wimot Quick married 1812 in Towednack.I am wondering if Joseph's sister, Ann Glasson, and William Trewhella, married 1797 could possibly be Johns parents?Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. So many kissin cousin's in this line,it's doing my head in!! Thanks in anticipation.Cheers.Erika.

Welcome to the site Erika ................ and wonder no longer! Although no baptism has been found for him I am certain that John Trewhella was the son of William Trewhella and Ann Glasson. I had wondered about it for years and was frustrated that quite a number of baptisms appear to have not been recorded at Towednack and a few other Parishes in the area during the period from around 1795 to 1803 or so. The fact that John stated in the Census that he was born at Towednack along with the fact he named his first son William and only daughter Ann were fairly good clues. Also his age in the Census suggested a birth of about 1800 which fit very neatly into a rather large gap between 1798 and 1803 where no children had been baptised to William and Ann. Based on that I had finally decided this was where John belonged. But several years back through another (then) new member on this forum further evidence of the link was established. Off hand I don't recall the name of that new member but I think she was a descendant of Richard Edmund Wilson and Sarah Ann Trewhella with Sarah Ann being a grandaughter to John and Nancy. I think there may be a thread for this somewhere in the Trewhella section but the fact I shared a DNA match with the new member proved the link. I will have a look to see if I can find the right thread for you and post the details in a following note. CT

Unfortunately I am not able to easily find the thread I referred to in my last. It certainly does not appear to be in the Trewhella section so my guess is that it may have originated in either the Queries section (this one) or perhaps the Surname Interests section.

Much thanks CT.Certainly appreciate your reply and information. I felt this may have been the case, as Ive used your wonderful site before to check details about our Cornish relatives. As per most families I would imagine, nearly all the names mentioned are inter related in some way and certainly feature in our tree.Once again gratitude for helping solve a family tree block, and your speedy response.Cheers from Aust.Erika.

Hi Erika - I live in Victoria as well - in Chiltern. :-)
Can you tell me how this particular line works its way down to you by line of descent please? In fact if you could outline the descent from the Trewhella side as well as the Glasson side it would be helpful.
Probably better to use the PM function to do that or even email if you prefer.
