hi all
I have just returned to genealogy after a parenting break. I now have two teenage boys. I have also inherited all my grandmothers reasearch which has reignited my interest. Covid lockdown has given me time to sort some of the papers I have, which came to me in a huge mess after a hasty estate cleanup.
My grandmother was a Lawry. Her parents where both Lawry but coming from different parts of Cornwall to Australia. Her line of research included, Piercy Lawry and Sarah Hollah from Gulval, the Ellery's (I'm finding lots are from St Columb Minor), Pascoe, Thomas Lawry and Catherine Trezise, Tonkin, George.
I have married into the Bottrell family in Australia who I have previously traced back to Cornwall (Madron, Sennen, St Levan) Other names include Tremewan, Vingo/e, Daniel. Nicholas Bottrell came to Australia in 1854 with his 4 children. His daugher was married to a Jacka.
I look forward to reading through your posts and seeing if I can make any futher connections.
Cheers Gail

Hello Gail and Welcome to Penwith Genealogy. Sounds like most of your connections will be West Cornwall but there is plenty of help available even in cases where ancestors are from a little further away. CT

Hi Gail! I've got a Sarah HOLLA from Gulval bap 28 Oct 1741-buried (or died) 26 Nov 1817 who married Edward POLGREAN in Sancreed. Is this the same one as yours? Also, I do have a few LAWRY's married into the tree in places: Margaret LAWRY 30 Dec 1770-Oct 1836 from Gulval who married William MURLEY. Thomas Veal LAWRY 13 Oct 1873 (St Just)-25 Jan 1939 Orange Australia who married Lavinia Ann ROBERTS. and a Henry Martin LAWRY 27 Sep 1863 (St Ives) - 3 Jan 1923 (USA) who married Eliza J RICKARD, to name a couple. Hi Gail I am interested to read that you may have a link with Thomas Lawry & Catherine Trezise. My husband's great grandparents were Thomas & Nanny/Nancy Lawry who are said to have been cousins. From information I have it appears Thomas' parents were Thomas Lawry and Catherine Trezise. I have yet to locate Nanny's parents' names and her siblings. I wonder how many of them found their way to Tasmania which is where Thomas & Nanny settled. Nancy remarried after Thomas died and she and her husband settled in Melbourne.
I look forward to seeing if you have a connection.
