d**n....wanted to be the first, but as we have already determined in other parts of the board, the Mitchell/Furzes always were a bit slow!!! My excuse is a dental appointment.
I intend to celebrate with a good old fasioned pint of St Austel ale provided that my local still has on tap as a guest ale. Have a good one the rest of you.

I reciprocate (hic.) ;D But my favourite beer in Cornwall was HSD. (Hicks Special Draught) For some 'unknown reason' many people called it 'High Speed Death'. I sampled numerous pints and I am still about. More to do so Happy Days to all in the aftermath of the celebrations. Ian

Oh dear! My local had removed St Austel beer and replaced it with Brains "Bread of Heaven", and the barman in reply to my statement that the day was St Piran's Day said, "What's St Piran?" Not even who, but WHAT !!!
"Disgusted... Tunbridge Wells"

I dont suppose he knew St David either! but i expect St Patrick's day might be recognised even in a Welsh pub - so many barmen are Irish

Sorry Londoner. This wazzuk was pure bred Anglo Saxon. Not a trace of Celt in him. Don't be so hard on our bretheren from over the water. Wasn't Piran born in Ireland (as opposed to Patrick who was born in Wales) and as we all know the definition of an Irishman is a Welshman (or West Briton) who could swim!
