Thanks Lannanta - will do.

There might not be an answer for this one: I am looking Alice Uren who died in 1752. She was the wife of Ishmael Tilley, and the mother of Alice Tilley 1705 who married John Carter and had daughter Alice Carter, my 5th great-grandmother who married Richard Sampson. A cousin who is a descendant of my 3rd great-grandfather Josiah Sampson and his first wife, Jane Luke, took photos of Alice and Richard's memorial plaque which is on the bell tower door entry at St Uny church in Lelant. I was stopped at Alice Uren, but then I recently found more of her children. My 6th GGM, Alice Tilley/Telly, was the first child followed by Florence in 1709, Elizabeth 1712, Susanna 1716, Mary 1719 (Alexander Noall), Martha 1720 and a second Susanna (Howell Richards)in 1722.
Given the names, I am wondering if Henry Uren of Gwinear and his wife, Florence, maybe did have children born after the death of his father, Edmund (wife Alice) and therefore not named in his will. Alice and Ishmael were married 25 Nov 1704. I have not found a baptism record for her obviously.

HI Zib - I cannot answer your hypothetical regarding Henry Uren and I cannot guarantee we can identify Alice short of a mention in another as yet unsighted Will. HOWEVER!! ………….. I can at least offer you one slim possibility …………. Prior to the 1716-1872 Lelant Register (P120/1/1) there are few records remaining although the 5th Register (P120/1/5 Baptisms, Banns, Marriages 1668-1782) does contain baptisms from 1684 to 1720. There is certainly no baptism for an Alice Uren in those records - at least not early enough to be involved in a 1704 marriage. And we all know that even where Bishops Transcripts exist they do not cover all years and often the gaps between years are substantial. BUT!! ……………… In the Bishops Transcripts for Lelant for the year 1683 there is the following entry which may ….. or may not ….. be useful:- 1683 Alice the daughter of John Uren baptized ye 20th of May CT

Thanks for that, CT, I will attempt to check out that possible connection. I was looking at Sampson/Uren connections again since Josiah/Joseph's brother Richard's granddaughter Mary Jane married Garfield Uren. Some lack of agreement on that line, but I think he descended from Thomas Uren and Catherine Laity to William then Samuel then John. However, it would not be the first time I am wrong!

If you go to www.opc-cornwall.org you will find some of the Wills you are looking for. One was in Latin and it was transcribed. I was fortunate enough to find this on FB Cornish Group so I hope this helps. I've been away for a couple of years due to ill-health but am back now.
