I have Richard Remfry (maybe Martian!!) popping up in Sancreed. He was born C1707 and Married a Jane. It has been suggested she is a Jane Victor, but I cannot find anything to support this. Looking at Christian names I have thought Richard might have originated from Mylor, but again no proof Richard and Jane had 2 sons, William 1740 and Richard 1741 both at Sancreed. My ancestor Richard married Susanna Badcock whilst his brother married a Mary ? The line stayed in Sancreed for a long time and then appears to have disappeared.
There does, however, seem to be a connection to St.Hilary, where there are early Renfrees
Any thoughts on this family would be a great help as Richard 1707 still remains a mystery.

White Hi Roy, FamilySearch.org England Births and Christenings 1538-1975 list a Richd. Remfry baptised at Redruth on 25 October 1701 to Thomas Remfry and Elizth. Could this be a possibility for your Richard Remfry? Regards, Mary

I don't have anything for Richard Remfry at the moment but I should remind you not to confine yourself to this spelling of the name. If using the OPC database then the easiest way to approach the problem would be by using the wildcard option with REN and REM as your starting point. e.g. REN% and REM% You will find renfree, renfrie, remphry and probably numerous other examples. Oh yes, and it is probably best to reduce the Christian name to 'R' only. If you use the wildcard option of r%d you will miss any entries that may have been abbreviated to 'ric:'. CT
