New to this site. Am researching my grandads family. He was John Trevorrow kliskey born 1900 in Newlyn. Have found quite a bit of info but I'm sure there is more out there. I also wonder if any descendants from the family left in the area.

New to this site. Am researching my grandads family. He was John Trevorrow kliskey born 1900 in Newlyn. Have found quite a bit of info but I'm sure there is more out there. I also wonder if any descendants from the family left in the area. Hi there, My maternal 3xgreat-grandfather Robert Simons of Newlyn (baptised at Paul 25 April 1790; buried Paul 10 Sep 1866) married his 2nd wife, a widow called Susan Hitchens, at Paul on 10 April 1842. Susan Hitchens had been baptised at Paul on 2 May 1802 as Susanna Kowleskey daughter of John and Mary Kowleskey. Susan Simons (widowed Hitchens, nee Kowleskey) was buried at Paul on 6 Jan 1870 aged 69. Years ago a Kliskey descendant told me that Susan's father John Kowleskey had been born at Koenigsburg/Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia) on the Baltic Sea as Johan Kowleskey. Records show that during the Napoleonic Wars he was serving on a small man-of-war, the brig HMS Boxer which was on patrol in Mount's Bay in 1798. Johan went ashore and remained in Newlyn in Paul parish where he became known as John Kowleskey and married Mary Baker at Paul on 10 March 1799. Paul marriage register records this marriage and notes that John was from the Gun Vessel Boxer. The couple had several children all baptised at Paul; Mary Kowlesky bap. 29 Dec 1799; Susanna Kowleskey bap. 2 May 1802; Jane Kiliske bap. 17 Dec 1804 and buried at Paul on 17 May 1806 (Jane Kaliskey, notes: residence Newlyn - infant, died from smallpox); John Kowlesky bap. 2 Feb 1812 and buried at Paul 9 May 1852 aged 44; Elizabeth Kowleskey bap. 2 Feb 1812 and buried at Paul on 20 Oct 1812 Elizabeth Keleskey of Newlyn buried 20 Oct 1812 aged 1 with notes infant, croup); Michael Kelesky bap. 5 June 1814. The father John (Johan) Kelisky was buried at Paulon 24 Sep 1818 aged 62 - he must have been born in about 1756. It is very difficult to find records of baptism, marriage and burial for these family members because of the numerous ways in which their surname has been spelled. The present day spelling of Kliskey only seems to have appeared in the second half of the 19th century. Regarding John Junior, he married Hannah Barnicoat at Paul on 8 May 1831 and Michael Kelesky married Alice Johns Tippet at Paul on 27 July 1833. All Kliskey descendants have their lineage from Johan (John) Kowleskey and his sons John and Michael.
