I am a descendant from the John Godolphin and Elizabeth Godolphin was (Nevill). Can anyone help me find out who Richard Nevill is i can only find information regarding nobility with this name reference. I would rather presume he is not anyone "notable" until proven otherwise. I have attached a "not very good" copy of a family tree for Godolphin but i am totally stumped with Richard Nevill. As they appear to be a prominent familyat the time i was hoping someone might be able to enlighten me on who he may be. PS I was born a Trewren and my ancestors come from the Ludgvan area. Thanks for any help inadvance. richardnevill.pdf (429.63 KB) Lynda

I too am related to the Trewren family of Ludgvan. I have a George Trewren b. 1752 Ludgvan who married Catherine Hall b. 1752 Ludgvan. They were married in 1774 Ludgvan. Had a son called William b. 1785.
In my tree there are also Godolphins so I expect we may have the same relatives in that line. I will see if I can find anything out about Richard Nevill for you.

I have had a look for Richard Nevill but there really is very little around. There are several of them but trying to decipher which is the right one is difficult.
Is there anyone on Penwith genealogy who has any info at all about him?

Lynda, as Neville is not an uncommon surname, your best bet is to identify the place where your Richard was resident at, and then search for information on that locality, which may supply details on the families associated with it. Also check the published 1522 military survey of Cornwall to see if Richard appeared therein, and where. Godolphins were gentry at that stage so Richard must have been of a similar or even higher social standing.
