Ooops! I missed this section entirely when I found this place - sorry. The acorn didn't fall far from the oak in my case. I was born and still live in west Cornwall. My mother and her father's family are Portreath people. Breage, Crowan and Sithney gave rise to two more branches of my mother's maternal line (who intermarried an awful lot ) and my father's side all originate from in and around the Lizard peninsula and Helston area. I have one line from Truro and St. Austell on my maternal grandmother's side as well. Like a lot of Cornish families, many of my ancestors emigrated to Johannesburg and some to the U.S. and Canada back in the late 1800s/early 1900s. It sometimes appears I have more relatives in the U.S. than here in the UK! I've been reading, with great interest, many of the threads here. I'm retired now, so have more time to concentrate on genealogy. I have a cousin who has spent many years and done a lot of research on our tree, but we have different gt. grandfathers. I feel it's my turn to put the hours in now - with help from you kind people - to help get to the bottom of a couple of the more problematic Penwith branches!
