Hello all.
I have just stumbled upon this site and now it's hours later and I should be asleep because I have an early meeting tomorrow!
I am in Western Australia. My Cornish connections seem mainly to have come in from South Australia, where I suspect they went to mine copper and such as they seemed to be all around the general vicinity of Burra in SA. The key names in my tree (to the best of my knowledge) are GLASSON, TYACK(E), and UREN.
My great-grandmother was Sarah Glasson 1868-1930, daughter of Richard Tyack Glasson (1823-1889) and Mary Tyack (1828-1902). Richard was born in Sithney, not so sure about Mary, and they emigrated to South Australia in 1849. Richard's parents were John Glasson (1789-1862) of Polpear and Joan Tyack (1791-1847). Of course the further back I go, the less certain the dates and connections go, as I confess to having got a bit trigger-happy on a certain genealogy site and I may have accepted what others had done rather too readily! John's parents were (I believe) John Glasson and Elizabeth Bottrall.
The Uren link comes from John Glasson senior's mother Elizabeth, who was married to Charles Glasson, son of another John (who was married to Dorothy Verrant).
...or so I believe
I figure I need to get a bit more guidance as there are so many Glassons in particular and they all seem to have the same names and/or marry their cousins! Your site has been most helpful to date but I'm keen to get more information on my 'direct line' so a good start I guess will be to confirm what that actually is!
I'll be grateful for any information or tips.
Thanks, Denise.

Welcome to the site Denise. And good to see that you have realised the error of 'blindly accepting' the information posted online by others. As far as I can tell from quick look at your information the links back to John and Dorothy appear correct. But I must admit that I have not updated a lot of my Glasson information for quite some time. I don't have any information at all on Elizabeth Uren as yet unfortunately. The best thing for you to do initially is to make sure you have followed all the relevant posts in the Glasson section. You will find that some of the discussions caused changes in thinking so you will need to read through to the end to ensure you get the latest thoughts on the identities of some people. You can post queries at any time and someone will try and help you. We don't have a name section for every name as that would have become too unwieldy but we certainly do for Glasson and Uren so it would be best to keep discussions on those families within those forums. If yo want to talk about Tyack then you may need to post under Glasson initially given the connection. And in case you are not aware of it there are quite a number of variations for each of the names you are interested in! For example:- Glasson - can be found as Glazon, Glazzant etc. and is often written using the old-English style where double-s is written as 'fs'. (i.e. Glafson) Uren - can be found as Uran, Urin, Youren etc. Tyack - will be found as Tyacke, Tiack and also interchanges with Teague, Teage, Teag. CT
