Hello to all Members
My Fathers family are from Cornwall, apparently from the Lands End district. They emigrated to South Africa in the early 1900 to work on the gold mines in Randfontein/Krugersdorp mines (Witwatersrand). My father's sir-name is Herran. I have always been fascinated by the rather sketchy history behind this. The sir-names that stick out are Herran and Hobson.
There is a section of the old Randfontein Cemetery that is dedicated to the old Cornish Miners with some very interesting stories that I wish to investigate when I am in that area again.
Many thanks and Rind regards
