Hi Glen Could you give us a little more information so that we can sort out which Richard Michell your GGfather might be? If you have his parents' names from his death or marriage certificate, for example, the ship he emigrated on & who with, that sort of thing. Sue

Hi Sue My great grand father (Richard Mitchell )was born in 17 Mar 1846 and died 25 June 1924 at 218 Piccadilly Street, Kalgoorlie WA. His father was Richard Michell born 4/03/1815 and married to Elizabeth Stevens Curnow 07 Jun 1845 in Towednack Cornwall. My Great Grand Father Richard Mitchell married Kate Rosewall on 18 Oct 1876 in Halsetown Cornwall.
May I enquire how you fit into the Michell(Mitchell) connection?
Regards
Kevin(Glen is just part of my username)

Well Kevin, if Richard Michell~Elizabeth Stevens Curnow are your ancestors, then you are related to the the Steven who is currently active on PG, under the thread "Richards family", as he is from the line of Elizabeth Stevens Curnow's brother, Peter Curnow 1814~Anne Richards.
Your family can readily be found in the 1841 onwards censuses, where you have presumably already found them, given the specificity of the dates you have quoted.
I am a Curnow myself emanating from the Towednack etc. area, although our direct line Curnow ancestors do not connect up till way back in the 1600s.
Curnow questions I can probably handle, I've done a fair bit of research on them over the years as has CT; Michells - well, try us! On this forum we like to help people to help themselves, rather than provide a lot of answers on a plate; the joy of family history research is often most in the searching journey.
Anyway, what specifically are you wanting to find out at present?
Sue

Ah, now we are getting somewhere! - Once we see exactly where this conversation is going I will probably move it to a more appropriate section but for now we will continue here. That is not quite correct! Richard Michell was actually baptised at Gwithian 28th November 1819 son of Benjamin Michell and Mary Ingram who married at Gwithian 11th August 1817. Benjamin was baptised at Gwithian 29th November 1794 son of John Michell of Gwithian and Honour Pellow who married at Phillack 1st July 1786. If you check the marriage record for Richard to Elizabeth Stevens Curnow you will note that his father is recorded as Benjamin. A transcript of this record can be found on the OPC site. I have not tried to track this michell family beyond John and Honour but there was a long line of Michells/Mitchells at Gwithian with probable connections to a number of surrounding Parishes. CT
