Been going throught the WW2 nominal rolls to fit any SA people into my tree. Come up with a stumper.
GLASSON, GEORGE HENRY
Service Australian Army
Service Number WX909
Date of Birth 27 Feb 1908
Place of Birth BURA BURA, SA
Date of Enlistment 11 Nov 1939
Locality on Enlistment KALGOORLIE, WA
Place of Enlistment NORTHAM, WA
Next of Kin GLASSON, GORDON
Date of Discharge 13 Mar 1940
Rank Private
Posting at Discharge 2/11 BN 6 DIV
I have checked the SA BDM discs and his birth is not registered. And a google search brings up nothing. Any ideas? Dianne

Love to see his personnel record... I think it is more likely to be George Henry born in 1892 at Burra - died in 1949 at WA .... father of Gordon Percival Glasson... George's wife died in 1932 so his son could have been his next of kin...

www.ww2roll.gov.au/NameSearch.aspxLots of good information there. So if he was born 1892 his actual age on enlistment wld have been 47. So he lied, told them he was only 31. Looks like he was found out though, as he was only in for 4 months before discharge. Di

I might have missed something but could find no information about him as his record doesn't seem to be available. Access status is shown as "not yet examined" rather than "open". I agree with you about the possibility of him attempting to pass himself off as a 31 yo and getting caught out. What was he thinking!
