probably a logical explanation but at the moment I can't see it.

The online database suggests that in the 1892 marriage the groom was William Dewhirst/Dewhurst, not Richard.
Looks like two sisters marrying two brothers.
Richard was born 18 March 1859 at Hindmarsh Island. William was born 3 August 1864 at Willowie.
Their mother was Eliza Pomery (Pameray sp var).
The various children born are shown with parents as Richard/Martha or William/Mary.
