She is Bridget Mary Elizabeth Glasson, daughter of Cornelius Glasson and Elizabeth Foley and she was born in Brompton in Kent in 1850. Cornelius went to Australia as a pensioner guard in 1852 as you can see from below. Cornelius was formerly an Irish soldier who was married three times - a daughter to the second marriage and a son to the third. This family added significantly to the West Australian Glassons and was somewhat involved in local public affairs. Bridget Mary married Armstrong in 1867 and Chapman in 1879. She died of heart failure in 1929 in Victoria. It is interesting to note that the name Bridget most likely comes from the first wife of Cornelius - Bridget nee MOREN.
If you look at the NSW births you will see a birth of John Glasson to Cornelius and Bridget Glasson so it is clear that 1852 was not the first time Cornelius arrived on board ship in Australia.

So any ideas to the naming of John in 1887 by the parents? Di
