OH, Dear! They've done it again!!! That baptism occurred at St Breward which is right up East beside Altarnun!! A long, long way from St Ives! Although it should not be ruled out as impossible I would suggest it is very much less than likely that we should be looking that far afield for a baptism for Ann. I have noted that William and Mary were the parents of Ann Warren but I have no further information about that and it is old information that I wouldn't trust with a barge pole right now. You should also note that Ann died in February 1872 at which time her age was recorded as 94 and the Census records consistently have her birth at St Ives about 1778. One of the witnesses to Ann Warren's marriage was a William Warren but he was certainly not the man who married Mary Harry in 1754 - 57 years earlier. I can find no other signiature of a William Warren at St Ives that I can compare with and no likely baptism for Ann so she may have to remain a mystery for a little while yet. Thomas Richards and Elizabeth Chelew were married at Padstow but I have not pursued parents for either of them as yet with any success. You have Benjamin and Catherine as parents of Elizabeth but I would not be willing to accept that at the moment either. Children of Thomas and Elizabeth Richards were - Jennifer, Clarinda, Thomas, John, William, Sampson, George and Elizabeth. It is quite noticeable that the names Benjamin and Catherine do not appear so I think other options should be investigated. Just because Thomas Richards was 'of Lelant' when he married Elizabeth in 1783 it does not necessarily mean that he was born or baptised in that Parish. CT

Hi Snap17 - you learn as you go and by discussing things here I think you are going to avoid a lot of trips down the long garden path. What you need to keep in mind is that you should not accept anything you find online without being able to verify it. And those family trees that can be found plastered all over the place should be used ONLY to find possible clues that might lead to correct information. A very small percentage of them are reasonably reliable but mostly those trees should only be viewed for a little comic (tragic) relief! IGI and FamilySearch can be useful but both are full of errors, duplications and, worst of all, incorrect information supplied by LDS Members. Once again use only as a reference guide to point towards reliable records. Maps of Cornwall - if you type 'cornwall parish map' into your Google Search Engine you will find a number of links that will provide you with various maps showing the locations of the Cornwall Parishes. Here is a link to just one example:- freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~stithiansopc/CornwallParishMap.htmThis page gives the Reference Index for each Parish on the map and the Map itself can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the MAP link just below the photos. I use Ancestry everyday for things such as Census and other original records. The Census transcriptions can be atrocious and make finding people difficult but with hard work most things can be found. And there is a wealth of other original material available on Ancestry that is not available elsewhere. FMP - I had some unsavoury dealings over a Free Trial and unfortunately that particular organisation has placed themselves on my 'do not trust' and 'they are a rip-off' list. They have a lot of excellent material available that I cannot get elsewhere but my opinion is that their main interest is MONEY! For transcriptions of Cornish Parish Records - use the Cornwall Online Parish Clerks site. A number of our members have done transcription work for that site and the coverage is now very good. There are some transcription errors but there is a correction process and as they are found they are corrected almost immediately. www.cornwall-opc.org/Transcriptions are done from the original Parish Registers and as near as possible all information is transcribed 'as is' - the intention is that all words and names are copied 'as written' so the researcher can make up their own mind about what they might be. Cornwall Wills - there are some transcribed and abstracted Wills available online. Google 'cornwall wills' to find some information including this link:- webs.lanset.com/azazella/cornish_database.htmlYou will find 14 files of abstracted Wills here as well as links to other sites that you might find useful. That lot might be helpful for a start. CT

I had not done any research on this family except to note that son Benedict (1847-1921) and daughter Jane (1849-1928) died in Australia. I did know that Jane had married William James in Australia and had a number of children. On seeing your query I looked a little further and can now answer your query. Sarah Richards age 12 was buried at Barnoon Cemetery, St Ives, 25th May 1862. Her father is recorded as George Richards, labourer, and she was buried in an unconsecrated grave - Section C Grave 2E. Hi Lyn - that information came from a section of a transcript of the Barnoon Cemetery Register. I don't have a copy of the register and I have been asked not to pass on any copies of what I do have. All I can do is to quote the relevant information for you as I have done.
I have the names of the children of William James but all information has come from the Victorian Pioneer Index. I also have the death date for Benjamin but had not got to the stage of trying to trace any more of the family in Australia.

This baptism occurred at Gulval during a time where all names were recorded in Latin. Johannes is the Latin for John. Where did this information come from? I know of no John Quick married to an Elizabeth Osborne, particularly that early, so I am very curious about the origins and sources. The Will of Matthew Osborn of 1709 indicates that he had a daughter named ANN who was married to a John Quick but I have not had sufficient original records to work from so have so far not been able to identify this John. In 1716 at Towednack there are two burials - John Quick and John Quick junr. So far I have not been able to positively identify these two or even confirm whether they were father and son or merely an elder and a younger John Quick. The elder of these two may have been John Quick 'the miller'. He had a wife named Elizabeth but I have never found anything which might identify her maiden name. These Quicks were mostly at Zennor and Towednack and records for both Parishes are largely unreadable or missing prior to 1713 (Zennor) and 1683 (Towednack). And at Towednack there are just a few Bishops Transcripts surviving for the period form about 1703 to 1720 so I am extremely suspicious when someone suddenly 'finds' that a John Quick married an Elizabeth Osborne sometime before 1700. The husband of Ann Vibert was the son of John Quick and Jane Morrish who married at Gulval in 1680. We don't have a baptism fot this younger John but other records help identify him. And his last child was not James in 1722 - there was another son baptised at Zennor 30th January 1725 (old style) and buried the same day. CT
