Hello I am trying to piece together pedigrees of the Collins family of Illogan and the Hearle family of St Erme in the 16th and 17th centuries. Unfortunately neither parish has very complete registers, but by using other sources at the County Record Office, the Royal Institution and The National Archives. I have some information that I am willing to share and I am very interested in finding out more obscure facts than are easily available on the internet. I am also looking for any possible connection between the Greenvile / Grenville family and the Collins family during this period.

Hi - and Welcome to the site. Unless you are looking back beyond around 1680 then the above statement is not quite correct. For Illogan the following registers are available (images of original) at FamilySearch:- Baptisms, Marriages, Burials 1539-1699 - this is the earliest register Banns 1854-1907 Burials 1886-1944 Marriages 1889-1907 All the other registers are at the Cornwall Record Office so they exist but unfortunately are not readily available outside the CRO at the moment. The following Indexes are avialable via the Cornwall Family History Society:- Baptisms 1720-1812 Baptisms 1813-1840 Burials 1813-1837 Marriages 1597-1837 (Pre-Civil Registration) There is also an Online Parish Clerk for Illogan who has copies of the Bawden Transcripts. St Erme registers from 1671 to around 1900 are also available via FamilySearch. Considering some Parishes have no registers existing prior to 1700 I should think it is most fortunate that the above are available. CT
