I have a few queries re Johanna Quick Lander. 1. She married Michael Welch Ninnes in 1880 and had the following kids: Elizabeth Mary Ninnes 1882 Edward Freeman Ninnes 1885 Michael Welch Ninnes 1888 According to 1911 census, Johanna had 4 kids with 3 still living.... any ideas on the 4th childs name??? 2. Johanna Quick Lander c1853 is the daughter of Edward Freeman Lander and Jane Johns Quick who married in 1841. 3. Jane Johns Quick c1816 is the daughter of Richard Jennings Quick and Jane Johns Bennetts. CT and co...Are you in agreement with this?

I agree with the lineage but I have not been able to find that fourth child. In fact I cannot find any of the family in the 1891 or 1901 Census in England or Wales. Michael Welch Ninnes was a master mariner so I might expect not to find him but I would expect (normally) to find his family. What is interesting is that Edward Freeman Ninnes (born 1885) and Michael Welch Ninnes (born 1888) were not baptised until 1895 which makes me wonder if they left England for a while and waited until they returned to baptise the two children. Until we can locate them sometime between 1888 and 1911 it will be difficult to track down the name of the child. There is every chance that this missing child may have been born, and possibly died, outside of England. CT

There are times when I really, really, really hate the transcribers at Ancestry!!!! And this is one of 'em!!!!! I just found the Ninnes family in the 1891 Census by using the Cornwall Online Census Project. Clearly transcribed as Johanna Q Ninnis with no hints of difficulties reading the entries so I tried Ancestry again. I eventually had to search for another name on the page and them scroll down to find:- Johanna T RICHARDOnly the three known children were with Johanna although there is plenty of room for another child to have been born prior to 1891. I still cannot find Johanna in 1901 although I have found son Michael W Ninnis boarding at Burnham in Somerset. CT

Found Edward in 1901 - at the West of England institute for the Deaf 1911 census says he was deaf from birth.

I have him now. Note beside his name says 'cousin in school'. That cousin was Honour Paynter Ninnes, daughter of James Lander Ninnes and his wife Sarah.
