In the South Australian records can you tell me if the father of Thomas James Glasson who married in 1923 to Ms Brown was named Thomas?

Thanks for looking. I am of the opinion that Thomas James Glasson may have been born in Napier, New Zealand. He can go in the too hard basket at the moment.

Lannanta - unfortunately I can't help with anything beyond 1916 for South Australia (births 1906). Genealogy South Australia now seem to have SA BDMs online but the indexes are stripped down compared to what I have on CD. In the case of marriages these stripped indexes do not show the names of the father's, the exact date or the place of the event. www.genealogysa.org.au/home.htmlBut I can now tell you that Thomas James Glasson died in the Port Adelaide District in 1969. Using the above link - click on Online Resources and then just enter the name Thomas James Glasson (Surname first) and it will give you the index entries for his marriage, his death and a cemetery record. The Cemetery index shows that there is an MI for the Cheltenham Cemetery so you might get further information there. CT |

Wrong man as it happens.... my man was born in 1880 or so and I now remember that I talked to Kathy about it years ago and that family ended up in Pennsylvania.

I sort of have an idea of who he is.... there is one other Thomas James who was born around 1904 in Tuckingmill. Son of Thomas and Phillipa Tonkin nee Barnett. None of the childrens names help much but never mind.

Hmmm - I cannot find a Winnie/Winifred (first or second name) anywhere in SA or Victoria. The logical family for her would appear to be that of Thomas Glasson and Angelina Harry but that is about as close as I can get.  CT |

Yes that is true - Winnie from her marriage, assuming accuracy in the document, was born about 1868.
Thomas and Angelina had:
Henrietta Henry Peters Tyack in 1864;
Mary Louisa in 1866, died a spinster in 1906;
Sarah in 1868 and who married John Turner;
Laura Amelia in 1870 who married John Williams; and
Edith Alice Harry in 1873 and who married Daniel Turner.
It is either a big age error or she belongs somewhere else.
