I am tracing my Bryant family history from Lelant and now I am thinking of trying to find out if there are any wills related to this family. I do not know were to start to look so any ideas were to look and how to start would be great.
Cornwall Records Office online Catalogue will tell you which wills they hold and can copy for you and has guideline costs. Wills at the National Archive can be downloaded for £3.50 Wills after 1858 are listed in the National Probate Calendar ( can be accessed via Ancestry) cost was £5.00 not sure if that has changed.
Obituaries: The British Newspapers site is now run by Brightsolid and has subscription or pay per view costs. If you are in the UK the Gale Collection , which includes the Royal Cornwall Gazette can be accessed using your local library ticket.
You can happily search away and create a short-list www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=15977 using the name Bryant, then maybe Briant, then either visit Truro & view them for free on microfiche, or pay an order them.
There are some sites with Cornish will transcriptions/summaries good souls have done for us:
