Hi.
I was born in Cornwall and lived there until the age of 11, when my parents moved to Somerset.
I have been researching my family history for a year now and recently found the will, of my 10 x g grandfather William Prater, of Newlyn East, on the West Penwith Resources Site.
I am trying to find out more about the Prater family. Descendents of this line, ended up in Blisland, where they settled.
Surnames found so far : Arundell, Auger, Best, Broad, Colman, Ede, Daniell, Gibbs, Gilbert, Glasson, Inch, Hall, Hicks, Lander, Lean, Lemin, May, Pearce, Prater, Prout, Rein, Rogers, Roose, Runnalls / Reynolds, Spiller, Trevaines, Trudgean, Viviam, Wellington, Yelland.

Hi Junket, If you go to this site, West Penwith Resources look in the transcribed wills and I have some for Parter, Gibbs and Danyell there. These should be your ancestors. Any problem accessing the site let me know, Roy

G'day Junket - and Welcome. I note that you have West Penwith names involved but you speak mostly about family further East in the Blisland area. Suggest you begin your postings in the section 'KERRIER ET AL' which initially deals with West Penwith names that ended up outside the actual West Penwith area. Once we establish links further West we can move discussion to the relevant section of the Board. Meantime - whatever your queries - I am sure someone will be able to help you. Newlyn East is of interest to me because of the Trewhela family of St Enoder. But let us start with a few queries in 'Kerrier et al' and see how we go. Once again - Welcome - and have fun here. Ian

Junket - just noticed your 'avatar'. On this site you need not worry about being a 'novice' - we are here to help (as best we can) and I am sure we all remember that we were new to this at one time. In fact, if we are all serious about ourselves then we will all also admit that we are still learning. Please feel comfortable and join in. Ian

Thank you everyone, for the warm welcome.
I did wonder, if I was in the 'right area', for joining, but thought, as I had found the William Prater, Daniell and Gibbs WIlls, in the West Penwith Resources site, I would try, as I am not sure where the Prater family originate from, prior to 1623. Also, I am visually Impaired, and the site is brilliant for my visual needs.
Roy, thank you. I have seen the Wills and have gathered a vast supply of information from them. I have also questions to ask about the wills.

Hi Junket, Any questions on the wills very welcome. I mistakenly thought at one time that there was a connection between the Gibbs family of Newlyn East and mine of Sancreed. Hence the reson that I purchased photocopies of the wills. I also , mistakenly, added them to my file. The details are still there and I would happily send you a word doc. with the details if you want. Obviously I would need your e mail address to do so. Good hunting, Roy
