There is a record in the burials for a 43 year old Ann Glasson buried at Madron on the 25th March 1846 - she was said to be of Penzance.
In fact she died at Morrab Place on the 19th - said to be a gentlewoman. The informant was a certain Mary Reynolds of Brighton Terrace who appears in the 1841 census in the same place - Brighton Terrace - with her own family - she maybe was a nurse or some such.
But I cannot find this Ann in 1841 - and I was wondering if you had some record of her among your collection?

Lannanta - I certainly don't have her in my database so will have to try and hunt through the 1841 Census a little later to see if I can pick her up. CT

Just dabbling while food thawing.... I brought up a list of everyone 1841 at Morab Place - nobody remotely resembling a Glasson. Couldn't possibly be Nanny Glasson 38 1841 at Madron Trewidden, head Thomas Glasson 65 head, farmer..... 2 Reynolds servants.... Reynolds next door...?? Ah, this one looks better : 1851 doing a search by Morrab Place again rather than name, there is a Glasson family this census: GLASSON Betsey Head W F 73 Annuitant Cornwall - Perranzabuloe GLASSON John V. Son U M 29 Mine Adventurer (Crossed Out) Cornwall - Madron Do you know this family? Sue Ah-ha! Looking up John V(ingoe) Glasson baptism on OPC, it looks like the above 1841 & 1851 options are the same family, so this has promise.......

Well done Sue! That would make her Nancy Glasson privately baptised 1st August 1802 at Madron daughter of Thomas Glasson and Betsy (nee Clark). That fits the death/burial details quite nicely and she is in the right place with the right people. Ann/Nancy - a bit like the old Jennifer in the Jane-pile trick! ;D CT

Hello Sue Thanks for that - once again I already had that death connection in my database and as CT said never looked beyond Ann to Nanny. John Vingoe Glasson of course is the famous Glasson name in NZ as he started the chain of shops here - Glassons. Well done Lannanta

Don't worry mate, it took me a long time to get through that problem and even today I occasionally forget to look at alternates for Christian names! CT

Too true.
But it is all good progress though. Getting all the Cornish Glassons into their families before I try and start going backward into the 1700s. Using Excel I have most of the marriages sorted and at the moment I am working on the deaths and have a significant number of them done It is easier once the age was given on the death record but still things are coming along okay.
