Anyone have a spare Frederick William EDWARDS floating around, born circa 1860 to 1863. He married Mary Sarah RASHLEIGH at Lelant on 29 JAN 1883, no father for Frederick is listed.

How could anyone possibly lose a Frederick William Edwards. If he was married at Lelant in 1883 then I have only a couple of items to offer from the 1881 Census The only 'Frederick William Edwards' listed was then aged 19 and enumerated at the Wiltshire County Lunatic Asylum with no place of birth mentioned. The only other likely (and the above is hardly likely) candidate would be:- Frederick Edwards, 18, unm, farm servant, born Ludgvan He was a servant to the family of Thomas and Mary Berryman at "Boskerris" in Lelant. Thomas and Mary had obviously been in the USA for some time as the first three of their children in the Census were born in New Jersey. Crikey - I cannot find this bloke in 1871 or 1891. If he is the person mentioned above with the Berryman family then it is possible that he also spent time away from Cornwall. Although mentioned as a 'servant' it is possible that he was, in fact, a nephew (or other relation) of either Thomas Berryman or his wife. But now I check my database and find that Thomas Berryman was the son of William BERRYMAN and Wilmot EDWARDS. Herein may lie a clue. Next step might be to contact Bill Curnow who is the OPC for Ludgvan and see what he can find for you. Let me know how things progress and I will try and check further. Ian
