Test my memory but I cannot remember discussing this John.
He appears in the 1851 and 1861 census at Limehouse, married to Elizabeth (born around 1822 at Ashton). In the 1851 census John's mother in law was living at the house (brave man) and she was a widow named Elizabeth Barnes. No sign of the couple after 1861 that I have found.
My thought is - you would expect the marriage to be after 1837 given the bride was 15 in 1837, but I cannot find it. I am guessing that my error may be in assuming that the bride was not a widow, or that the bride's mother only married once.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Lananta - I have no recollection of any discussion on this fella.
And, like you, I am struggling to find a marriage for him.
About the only thing I can offer at the moment is that, based on those currently in my database, he may be the son of Edward and Elizabeth Glasson of Bodriggy.
John bp. 25th October 1818 at Gwinear
Best I can offer right now.

Yes that is all I had as well and I did note that the John you mentioned had a sister Rebecca who was baptised at Phillack.
That will have to do for the moment.

Lannanta - by my reckoning John was the son of Edward Glasson and Elizabeth Harvey who married 17th November 1810 at Gwinear. Edward in turn was the son of Edward Glasson and Rebecca Harvey so hence the name of John Glasson's sister baptised at Phillack. Now - I reckon that you will find John at Briston, St Stephen, GLS in 1841 as an Engineer. His age is transcribed as 25 and that is what it looks like at first glance. But there is just something about the way it is written that suggests to me the second digit is not meant to be a '5'. Looks like John is lodging in a pub and is only a few doors from the family of Benjamin and Mary Trewhela. The occupation fits with our man in 1851 and 1861 but unfortunately it tells us nothing of his marital status at the time. I will take another look around and see if I might 'stumble' upon anything useful. CT

It looks like the engineer John Glasson b 1818 Hayle/Gwinear is no more by 1871 census, as wife Elizabeth is just a bit further out of London from Limehouse, in East Ham: she is a widowed nurse at an industrial school for destitute children, St George in the East. 1881 she is a lodger at 34, St Pauls Rd, Limehouse. Independent. And again, now pensioner, 1891.
Middle initial A 1871 through 1891.
I would guess that her death is therefore the FreeBMD Jun Q 1900 age 78 Stepney. (Same place.)
Looking at the registration districts for deaths of John Glassons between 1861 & 1871, that in Mar Q 1865 West Ham could fit the bill......?

Thanks Sue I had not progressed that far. My focus so far has been on trying to find a possible marriage but without any luck. I did notice that John was not to be found in 1871 but didn't check for his wife so that death might just be the one. Something for tomorrow methinks! CT
